Russian Avant Garde TUBES issue 17

issue #17 of tubes the second abstract special. The first being in 2017 issue #4 – The main article in Abstract 2020 #17 is taken from the 315 page original catalogue of a show in Stockholm at the Modern Museum of Art in 1983. This was the first largest showing of the Russian Avant Garde Art ever seen outside of Russia. All of the exhibition showed the collection of one man – George Costakis. The introduction written by the renown author and art critic Angelica Zander Rudenstine, has been translated from Swedish and edited to present an overall unique view of the RAG from its early days to when it fell out of favour with the Kremlin and then was almost forgotten about in the middle 20th century. This hugely influential epoch lives on through the advanced absolute abstract artists of today.
